Ticks and Powassan virus

With the coming of spring and warmer weather across the continent, people are getting out more - and so are ticks. As a Pennsylvania resident, I've been reading increasing reports about the virus' emergence in the state. While Powassan is generally rare and has predominantly been found in the Great Lakes region, there is no vaccine and it is challenging to treat.

As Environmental Educators we can play a role in keeping people safe and sharing behaviors to do so (see the CDC recommendations below). These situations are also challenging to me - walking the line between encouraging people to get outdoors, while not scaring them away.

How do you and your facilities address educating about ticks?
